A website to help us keep in touch

Today was busy.  I went to work, then left early for my doctor's appointment.  Then I took Yvonne back to the UM for her appointment.  I was told that my arm looks to be healing as expected.  I am to start PT.  I still need to wear the sling a lot, but can have it off for short periods of time.  He basically ratified what I already had started doing.

Yvonne was told she does not have an avulsion fracture, although she is skeptical of this.  It really does feel like there is a piece of bone out of place.  They will do a CAT scan to be sure.  It looks as though she will not need surgery in either case.  The reason for the scan is so they can be sure of what is going on.  The surgeon said that it probably is a muscle tear that is too deep to feel directly. There also is a fluid collection -- a seroma -- that is contributing to her discomfort breathtaking pain.  This also makes it hard to tell what the problem is, because you can't feel anything through the seroma.  The good news is that she is not on bedrest any more.  That's good because she doesn't tolerate inactivity well.  The bad news is that it still is hard for her to do much of anything.  At lease she doesn't have to feel guilty for getting up and doing things.
