A website to help us keep in touch

This is a picture of the three-inch long Euprymna scolopes, which is a type of squid. It has a light-producing organ. This is not unusual. What is unusual, is the protein surrounding the organ, which reflects light outward, thus making the light brighter. This protein has a kind of structure that previously was unknown. This discovery could lead to nanotechnology for producing new kinds of optical devices.

Unfortunately, noting that exciting is happening at our house. The big news is that Jackie will be leaving tomorrow. Her classes start on Monday. Kevin is going to be here for the weekend, which should help.

Yvonne is definitely doing better. She is more alert, does not need as much pain medication, and has a brighter affect with normalization of psychomotor activity. It still hurts her to take a breath, though. She tells me that she misses the horses. No, we didn't sell them; it's just that she can't walk well enough to get to the barn. She's going to try tomorrow, though, because she hired someone to help with feeding and grooming, so she will want to go out there and make proper introductions.

Myself, I had been feeling less pain, but of course that made me get more active. I did laundry this morning before work. Now my shoulder hurts more. It only hurt a little from carrying laundry, but after that I did not have the endurance for the entire work day, like I did earlier this week. Here at home, I think I'm finished tweaking the hybrid wired/wireless network. Fortunately, I got the wiring done before the accident. I kept getting it to work, then it would stop. The networking Wizards in Windows are more like Sorcerer's Apprentices. They would try to reconfigure the network to use different IP addresses all the time, but this would mess up the firewalls. The key is to use static IP addresses.

That's it for now. I should get time to write something shorter and more coherent on the weekend.
